FAQ — Moroccan Handcraft, Shipping & Care

Everything we are asked most often about Mogadoro's handmade Moroccan pieces — how they are made, how they ship, and how to live with them.

How long does a Mogadoro order take to arrive?

Every piece is made by hand, so orders are processed in 2–4 business days. Delivery is then 3–5 business days to the USA and Canada, 5–7 business days to Europe, and 7–14 business days to the rest of the world. We ship worldwide with DHL and FedEx.

Is shipping free?

Shipping is free worldwide on every order over $100. Below that, shipping is calculated at checkout. Customs duties and import taxes are the buyer's responsibility.

Do Moroccan leather poufs arrive stuffed?

No. Most of our poufs arrive as unstuffed covers with a bottom zipper, which is what keeps worldwide shipping affordable on a piece this size. Fill one generously with old blankets, clothing or fabric offcuts — it takes more than people expect, and an under-filled pouf slumps.

What are Mogadoro's leather poufs made from?

Genuine vegetable-tanned hide, cut and stitched by a single artisan who works on the piece from start to finish, and finished with fine tonal stitching. Our kilim and Beni Ourain styles use handwoven wool and natural dyes instead.

What is a Beni Ourain rug?

A Beni Ourain rug is hand-knotted in the Atlas Mountains from undyed sheep's wool. The wool is washed in cold mountain water and left its natural colour, so no two whites are quite the same. The diamond and line motifs are drawn from memory rather than a pattern book, which is why a hand-knotted rug drifts slightly off-square and never repeats exactly.

Can I order a Beni Ourain rug in a custom size?

Yes. Our Beni Ourain rugs are knotted to order, starting at 2x3 feet and going up to large room sizes. Because each rug is made after you order, production time is added before shipping.

What are the basket bags made from?

Dried palm or doum fibre — soaked, split and woven by hand, most of it by Fatima's cooperative in Marrakech, a group of women who have been weaving together for twelve years. The leather trim is cut and stitched separately, then married to the basket by hand.

Do the cushion covers come with inserts?

No — cushion covers arrive unfilled with a hidden zip. Inserts are easy to find locally, and leaving them out keeps the shipping cost honest.

How do I care for a wool Moroccan rug?

Vacuum gently and without a beater bar, shake it out in the sun, and rotate it every few months so the pile wears evenly. The dense high pile flattens under furniture and springs back. Spot-clean spills with cold water rather than washing the whole rug.

Where are Mogadoro products made?

All of them in Morocco. The baskets and totes are woven in Marrakech, the leather is cut and stitched in a Marrakech workshop, and the Beni Ourain rugs are knotted in the Atlas Mountains.
