The Farha — Pink Pom Pom Fringe Straw Basket Bag

Farha is the Moroccan word for joy, the word for a celebration. This basket is dressed for one.

It’s woven by hand from palm leaf in Marrakech, then decorated by hand: a skirt of raffia fringe around the top, a row of raspberry, blush and white pom poms along the rim, and a rim wrapped in bright pink yarn. Two short natural handles carry it in the hand or the crook of your arm.

It’s made for a hen weekend, a pool party, a girls’ trip or a long summer lunch. It’s a party piece, so keep it dry: better for the walk to the pool than for the water itself.

Each Farha is made and decorated by hand, so the fringe and the pom pom order vary slightly from bag to bag. That’s part of its character.

Care: Keep it dry and away from rain, sand, and saltwater. Bright pink yarn can transfer dye to the pale straw if it gets wet, so air-dry it with the fringe hanging free and away from heat. Comb the fringe gently with your fingers. Pom poms may shed a few fibers at first.
