Look at the surface of this leather for a moment. It isn't one brown. It's a landscape of them — deep umber pooling into chestnut, lighter patches where the finish pulls thin across the grain. That mottling is the mark of a distressed, oil-fed finish: the colour sits in the leather rather than on it, which means every crease, scuff and year adds to the pattern instead of chipping away at one.

Brown does something black leather never quite manages — it shows its history in colour. Black ages in texture only. Brown ages in tone: lighter where your hands go, deeper where the oils settle, until the bag becomes a record of everywhere it's been carried. If you've ever admired a stranger's twenty-year-old satchel in an airport, it was almost certainly this colour.

The details, because they're the point:

A padded pad on the shoulder strap — the feature every duffle needs and almost none include, because it costs an extra component. Thirty-six litres suspended from an unpadded strap stops being pleasant at about the third gate change. The pad slides to sit where you need it; the strap itself detaches and adjusts, and clips off entirely when you'd rather carry by hand.

A zip pocket on the outside — full width, flat against the back panel, exactly where a boarding pass, phone or book wants to live when the main compartment is packed and you're standing in a queue.

Two zip pulls on metal tags, so the bag opens from either end. Rolled leather handles. Side buckle tabs. Brushed antique brass throughout — warm against the brown, quiet about it.

Inside, a dark lined interior that keeps the outside's drama and the inside's practicality separate.

At 50 × 27 × 27 cm it's the classic two-to-three night size, soft enough to give in an overhead locker, structured enough to sit upright on a luggage rack.

Handmade in our Marrakech workshop — and Morocco has been tanning brown leather since before most countries had names for it. Fez's tanneries are a millennium old this century. Variations in grain, tone and mottling between bags aren't a disclaimer here; they're the finish working as intended.
