Baskets & storage
Two kinds of basket live here: the flat-bottomed French market baskets you carry to the shops, and the lidded palm trunks that sit at the end of a bed and swallow blankets. Both start the same way — dried palm or doum fibre, soaked until it bends, split by hand, then woven in the round by one maker from base to rim.
The trunks are lidded and woven to hold their shape under weight. The market baskets stay soft and mould to whatever you put in them. Leather handles and straps are cut and stitched in the same Marrakech workshop that makes our bags.
No two are identical — weave tension and fibre colour shift from maker to maker and from one season’s harvest to the next. Keep them dry, brush the dust out with something soft, and reshape a damp basket with your hands before it dries.
