Description
Somebody sewed every one of these on by hand. That's not a figure of speech and it's not a rounding error. Thousands of small sequins — coral, lime, fuchsia, silver, cobalt, black, sand — stitched individually onto a hand-woven palm basket until the entire body disappears under them. No pattern. No repeat. The colours land where the hand lands, which is why the surface reads like confetti caught mid-air rather than like a print. It takes days. It's the reason this basket looks the way it does, and it's the reason no machine has ever managed a convincing version. In the sun it does something specific. Sequins on a flat surface flash all at once; sequins on a woven basket sit at every angle the weave allows, so the light travels across it in waves as you walk. Standing still it's a colourful bag. Moving, it's the thing people look at on the beach path.Underneath the sequins is a proper Moroccan market basket, made the way they have been made here for generations: doum palm, split and sun-dried and woven by hand, with the natural straw left bare at the rim so you can see what the bag actually is. The handles are cognac leather, rolled and long enough to sit comfortably over a shoulder rather than dangling from a hand. And it's lined — cream cotton, all the way round. This matters more than it sounds. An unlined straw basket snags knitwear, drops keys through the weave and sheds fibres into everything you own. This one doesn't do any of that. You can put a swimsuit, a book and a phone in it without thinking about it.
The size is the real French market basket: 46 cm across the mouth, 29 cm tall, with a 26 × 15 cm base.
That's towels-for-two, a bottle of wine and a baguette, a full farmers' market haul, or a week's worth of beach clutter. It's the large one, and it's meant to be.Handmade in Marrakech. Because both the weaving and the sequinning are done by hand, your basket's colour mix, sequin density and exact dimensions will be its own.
That's not a caveat — with a confetti pattern, it's the entire point.

- One of a kind: Every sequin is placed by hand, so the colour distribution differs on every basket. Weave density and exact dimensions vary slightly too.
- Care: Spot clean only, with a barely damp cloth — never submerge or machine wash. Air dry naturally away from direct heat. Store upright and loosely stuffed rather than flattened; sequins crease if the basket is squashed. Condition the leather handles with a neutral balm once a year.
- A note on sequins: Each is individually stitched, so an occasional loose sequin over years of use is normal on hand-sewn work and easily re-secured with a needle and thread. It will not unravel.
