Meet the makersDescription
Zahra is the Arabic word for flower. This one has five, stitched by hand.
It’s woven from palm leaf in Marrakech, in the same tight herringbone as our baskets, and finished with a band of tan leather around the top. Five daisies are embroidered flat into the weave, in white thread with golden-orange centers, so the pattern belongs to the bag and doesn’t sit on top of it.
It’s an open-top pouch, light and flat enough to carry in hand for spring weddings, brunches and holiday days, or to use as a make-up pouch. It makes a good gift for Mother’s Day or an April birthday, whose flower is the daisy.
Details
- Handwoven palm leaf with tan leather trim
- Five hand-embroidered daisies, white with orange centers
- 30 cm wide × 18 cm high × 5 cm deep
- Carry in hand, no strap
- Handmade in Marrakech, ships from Morocco
Each Zahra is handwoven and embroidered, so the daisy placement and leather tone vary slightly from bag to bag. That’s part of its character.
Care: Keep it dry. White thread marks easily, so spot-clean the embroidery without soaking, and keep it away from dark denim. Wipe the leather trim with a slightly damp cloth. Don’t overfill it, so the weave keeps its shape.
